We’ve all heard this!

But how many of us use our lists and how do you go about finding out what to do next?

I’d like to share with you something we’ve been doing recently and it’s not going to cost you a penny.

In these difficult times many people have less disposable income and are carefully watching what they spend, making sure they get good value for money.

Fortunately, holidays and travel are still high on their lists especially if they have children. They may spend less, have fewer breaks and even go without other things, but the family holiday is still a high priority.

But it does mean we all have to work harder to attract our customers, and we can expect less income at a time when our costs are rising.
And what about the quiet times? We all have quiet times. What can we do to boost our income, especially in the quiet times?

Back to where I started.

We have been looking at the assets we already have and how to make good use of them.
And one of the most under-used and valuable asset are our lists.

We all have our lists. Lists of customers, lists of prospects, lists of suppliers and even lists of people that have nothing to do with our business.

So what are we doing with our lists?. Why, when we have such valuable assets, aren’t we using them?.

There are more than 3,000 businesses in traveljunkies but we only ever hear from a few of them.
Why aren’t the rest advertising and promoting their businesses?

All businesses in traveljunkies have websites but how do visitors find them? How many websites never get updated and remain static?. It’s not surprising those websites get little traffic and a website without traffic is a dead website.

If you’re one of the relatively few who have thought about looking at other ways to generate income in today’s environment, you’ve most likely heard the expression, “The Money’s In The List.” This is true, but only if you use your lists.

Your lists are one of your greatest assets.

Are you in business?

Are you using your lists?

If not – why not?

Not just your customer list … but all your other lists.
“What lists?” you might ask? “I don’t have any other lists”
Don’t you? Think about it!
First of all, what do you do with your customer list?
Do you send them a newsletter? How often? What do you say?
Are you trying to sell them more of what they’ve already bought?
Or are you helping them in some other way?
And what about your other lists?
Oh yes, your other lists!

Have you got a list of them somewhere?

“I DON’T HAVE ANY LISTS!” you shout!

Think about it.

Here’s a few for starters ….

Your family, your friends, your neighbours

Friends of friends

Your prospects

Your enquirers

Your suppliers

Your advertisers

Your competitors

Your networks

Your groups

Your organisations

Your clubs

Your local shops

Your local businesses

Your local publications

Your trade publications

Your local telephone directory

Your local schools & university

Your Chamber of Commerce

Your local Government

Your Facebook friends

Your Twitter followers

Your LinkedIn contacts

Other people’s lists

The list here in traveljunkies

The junk mail you get

The business cards you’ve collected

And what about the reps that call on you, they’re a great list.

And how could you forget the Internet?

So you do have some lists don’t you?

(If not – go and get some)
